New Here: What do you think of AstroCooker

Hi everyone,
I’m more of an Electronically Assisted Astronomer (EAA) person then an astro-photographer. That being said, I came across a website called (astrocooker.com) where you can upload an already stacked (tiff) but not yet stretched file and (after processing) it will make available (for a limited time) several versions for you to download for further processing.

It does things like do background extraction, the stretch, and noise reduction. It can also provide starless versions.

As someone who knows nothing of post processing, what do you think of this site for newbies or just someone who wants to benefit from the cool processing tools being available to all.

Ok. So astrocooker is offline. Looks like a licensing issue. Stay tuned.

@avescio
Have you looked at Siril for stacking and processing? It’s free to use and there are plenty of YouTube video tutorials to get you started.
To me, part of the challenge and enjoyment of this hobby, is seeing your images through, from start to finish, and Siril is a good place to start.

As of August 2024, that website/service is still closed. I wonder what happened, hopefully, the licensing issue was resolved. The FAQ is no longer linked on the home page. The more tools we have available to us for our hobby the better :slight_smile:
