Filter and Polar Alignment

Hello…using a SCT 8 with a .63 focal reducer and a ZWO asi183mc pro. OAG and a svbony drawer and ASIAIR. I’m finding it almost impossible to polar align and plate solve when introducing a filter into my image train . I’m using a NBZ nebula booster filter. Anyone else had to deal with the decrease in the light hitting the camera because of a filter? Once I take out the filter everything works great and quickly. Does anyone polar align without a filter and slew to the target and then swap in a filter?

Correct me if I’m wrong here but the OAG will share the same light captured with the guide camera and the rest of the rig right? Could it be the filters are some how not allowing enough light to gather to capture stars to plate solve correctly? Is the filter coming before the guide camera and likely to reduce the light it gets? or only the main imaging camera?

Yes the filter is coming after the oag. But the light issue…is the issue I believe.
